More difficult pose options are offered, as are props and accommodations to support personal development. Breathing techniques are taught to help soothe life’s stress. Class ends with savasana, a pose of total relaxation intended to rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. Come and join our caring and supportive community! Avita Yoga™ is a methodology that gently identifies restrictions impeding the body’s natural potential for freedom of movement, while simultaneously providing the mode to resolve them. Restrictions and limitations are resolved in a manner that is adaptable and unique to each student. It is sometimes passive, sometimes active and sometimes even quite demanding, but it is not a workout. It’s a work-in.
Avita Yoga™ isn’t about trying to fit the body into difficult positions for future gain. It is about reclaiming the movement, health and stability that naturally belong to you and your body in the here and now. It’s a shift in perception—starting anew, right where you are each time you arrive on the mat, no matter what condition your body is in, no matter what frame of mind you are in—it’s perfect because that’s exactly what needs tending. Avita Yoga™ is about creating new possibilities in body and mind, moment by moment. The sequences help resolve limiting patterns that no longer serve us so we can remember a healthier way of being in body, mind and spirit. It’s about going forward and creating a new way of being, for a lifetime.
Anyone can practice Avita Yoga™ because it is designed to work with every type of body. No experience is necessary and many first-time students quickly get comfortable with the practice. It works for all ages and body types.
“When carving stone, the sculptor removes everything that is not the statue. […] The art of revealing beauty lies in removing what conceals it. So, too, Patanjali [in the Yoga Sutras] tells us that wholeness exists within us. Our work is to chisel away at everything that is not essence, not Self.” Judith Hanson Lasater
A practice of restorative yoga strips away all the distractions of our lives, fully supports our body so we no longer have the ambition to move or the curiosity for external distractions and puts us into a state of deep relaxation. Just as the sculptor reveals beauty by removing what conceals it, restorative yoga can help reveal what it is like to rest in the beauty of your true self. This class is all levels and requires only that you wear comfortable clothing. We will use many props to support you in 3-4 poses and you will be in each pose for 10-12 minutes.
